Armed Man Robs Local Discount Store

HARKER HEIGHTS (December 12, 2013) Harker Heights police were searching Thursday for an armed man who walked into a local Family Dollar store Wednesday night and robbed the business.

Officers were sent to the store in the 600 block of East Veterans Memorial Boulevard at around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday after a clerk reported the robbery, Harker Heights police Sgt. Roosevelt Wilson, Jr. said in a press release Thursday.

The clerk told officers the robber pulled a weapon and demanded money.

Wilson did not describe the weapon.

The robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Wilson said no one was injured in the hold up.

The robber left the store on foot and was last seen in the vicinity of the 200 block of Indian Trail.

The robber is described was last seen wearing a long-sleeve sweatshirt, black pants and he had a black bandana covering his face.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the holdup to call Harker Heights police at (254) 953-5400.
