Army Staff Sergeant From Texas Dies In Attack In Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (October 27, 2012)--Staff Sgt. Kashif M. Memon, 31, of Houston, died of wounds suffered in a small arms attack on Thursday in Khas Uruzgan, Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, the military said Saturday.

Sgt. Clinton K. Ruiz, 22, of Murrieta, Calif., also died in the attack.

Memon was assigned to the 96th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne), from Fort Bragg, N.C

Ruiz was assigned to the 9th Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne), 8th Military Information Support Group (Airborne), from Fort Bragg, N.C.

Other details weren’t released Saturday.
