Arrest Made In Deadly 2011 Central Texas Shooting

A suspect charged with murder in the shooting death of a local man was jailed in lieu of $200,000 bond Friday, two years to the day after the slaying.

KILLEEN (August 23, 2013)—Donald Lee Mitchell, Jr., 29, was in the Bell County Jail Friday, charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting on Aug. 23, 2011 in Killeen.

U.S. Marshals arrested Mitchell on Thursday, a day after he was named in an indictment charging murder.

He was ordered held in lieu of $200,000 bond.

Officers found the victim, Dominic Allen Davis, 41, of Killeen, in a Suzuki SX4 that crashed through a fence and came to rest in the backyard of a home at the intersection of Zephyr and Conder in Killeen.

Davis died about an hour later at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

Police identified Mitchell as a person of interest less than 10 days after the shooting.
