Arrest Made In Shooting That Wounded Off-Duty Texas Police Officer

DALLAS (October 10, 2012)—An arrest has been made in the shooting of an off-duty Dallas police officer who was wounded while working security at an apartment complex, police said.

Sgt. Warren Mitchell on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of Jason Keith Yarborough who’s charged with aggravated assault on a public servant using a deadly weapon.

Sr. Cpl. Officer Matthew Wagner was shot twice early Tuesday, but is expected to recover.

Wagner and another off-duty officer were questioning a man in a vehicle when a struggle broke out and the man began shooting.

The gunman ran after Wagner was hit.

Police say Yarborough's fingerprints were on the magazine of a gun that was dropped at the scene.

Yarborough was arrested late Tuesday and remained in custody Wednesday.
