MEXIA (June 17, 2012)—Mark David McCarty, 55, of Streetman, remained in custody Sunday, charged with aggravated robbery in a holdup last week at a pharmacy in Mexia in which bottles of the powerful prescription painkiller hydrocodone were taken.
A tip led to the arrest Saturday morning at the Motel 6 in Corsicana.
McCarty was taken to the Navarro County Jail where his bond was set at $100,000.
The robbery happened on Thursday at around 9:30 a.m. at the CVS store at 827 East Milam St. in Mexia.
The robber did not display a weapon, but placed his hand at the small of his back suggesting he was armed, and then told the pharmacist “to do it and no one would get hurt,” police said.
The man left the store on foot and headed east.
Police reviewed surveillance video from surrounding businesses and determined that the man got into a small vehicle that may have been yellow in color that was parked at the McDonald’s restaurant a block east of the pharmacy.
No one was hurt.
