As Temperatures Drop, Homeless And Others In Need Seek Refuge

TEMPLE (December 25, 2012)- The frigid temperatures were hard to miss on Christmas day in Central Texas.

The wind chill reached into the teens and could be in the single digits by early morning.

For many the colder weather made Christmas day a little more authentic.

But for the homeless and those who had to endure it, well that's a different story.

When temperatures began to drop, warming centers opened up across central Texas.

Temple currently has two warming centers.

The first one is located at 305 South 18th Street (men), and the other at 613 South 7th Street (men and women).

The warming centers in Temple will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. December 25 and December 26, 2012.

Guests will be provided with blankets, water, and limited hygiene items.

The Salvation Army located near 5th street in Waco also opened their doors during the cold weather.

Guests began arriving there early this evening. Cots, jackets, and blankets were available.
