Assault, Robbery In Local Park Leads To 2 Arrests

WACO (October 30, 2012)- Two men were arrested early Tuesday evening after a man was assaulted, and had his backpack taken.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said officers arrested Eric Eugene Wiley and Willie Stanley, Jr., for robbery and took both to the McLennan County Jail.

Their bonds were set at $10,000 each.

Stanley also was being held on a parole violation without bond, according to the jail log.

Police were sent out to a park in downtown Waco just after 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Two men got into a fight with another man over a debt, police said.

The two men assaulted the victim then took his backpack and a sleeping bag, police said.

The suspects then walked across the suspension bridge in downtown Waco, police said.

Police arrested the two men on the other side of the bridge near Marlin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
