KILLEEN (July 25, 2012)—Three men were in custody Wednesday and police were investigating after a disturbance turned into a running gun battle that rolled through several Killeen neighborhoods as the occupants of two cars exchanged fire.
No one was hit, but the rear window of one of the cars, a Mercury Grand Marquis, was shot out, police spokeswoman Carroll Smith said.
Police stopped the two cars at Cody Poe Road and Edgefield Street.
Officers arrested the two men who were riding in the second car, a Lincoln Continental, and recovered drugs and two guns, one of which was stolen in Copperas Cove, police said.
The driver of the Grand Marquis was also arrested.
Smith said the incident began as a disturbance in the 1300 block of Karen Drive, during which shots were fired.
A 911 caller told police that a man in a Grand Marquis was chasing two men in a Lincoln after one of the men fired at the Mercury during the disturbance.
The chase wound through several neighborhoods before officers were able to pull the cars over at Cody Poe and Edgefield.
The names of the three men weren’t released.
