At Least Seven Injured in Major Highway Accident

MARLIN (October 1,20130--Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating after a late-night accident that left seven people with what authorities said Tuesday were minor injuries.

A pickup truck that was headed north on a southbound exit ramp struck a southbound Saturn on the highway just before 9 p.m. Monday in Marlin, Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson said.

The occupants of the truck had gotten out to check on the people in the Saturn when a southbound Honda Odyssey whose driver was unable to stop in time struck several people who were standing in the road, Wilson said.

Two people were taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple by ambulance.

Five others were flown by helicopter to several area hospitals.

Several children were among the injured.

None of the victims was seriously hurt and all were treated at hospitals and released Wilson said Tuesday.
