Attempt To Carry Out Suicide Pact Leaves Local Teen Dead

WACO (July 25, 2013)--A 15-year-old girl died and her 17-year-old boyfriend was fighting for life Thursday at a Waco hospital after the two attempted to carry out what police described as a suicide pact Wednesday night.

The suicide attempt was reported just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 2600 block of Lasker Avenue, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The boy's brother and father, who were in the house at the time of the incident, discovered the two teenagers in the the boy's bedroom and called police.

The father was able to loosen the rope from which his son was hanging, but his attempts to remove a belt from the girl's neck were unsuccessful, Swanton said.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in extremely serious condition, Swanton said.

The boy’s name and condition were not available Thursday.
