FALFURRIAS (July 3, 2014) Fifteen migrants who were attempting to enter the country illegally were found Thursday in a sweltering tractor-trailer at a South Texas border checkpoint, the U.S. Border Patrol said.
The migrants were found during an inspection early Thursday in Falfurrias, the Border Patrol said.
Eleven people were hiding in the trailer between pallets of carrots and the other four were in the cab, two of them crammed into a small closet.
Many in the group had been overwhelmed by the heat and received medical assistance.
The Border Patrol says the majority of the migrants were from Mexico but some came from El Salvador, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.
Officials say they will be returned to their countries.
