Bizarre Crash Injures One, Creates Havoc At Car Dealership

WACO (December 6, 2013) The driver of a pickup truck was taken to a local hospital Friday after a bizarre accident that caused extensive damage at a Waco Honda dealership.

The driver lost control of the truck a little before 11 a.m. Friday while driving on the westbound Loop 340 access road, police said.

The truck left the road, went airborne over a ditch, slammed into a tall sign and came to rest on top of three cars in the lot at Greg May Honda at 1601 West Loop 340, police said.

One of the three cars overturned.

Flames were beginning to come from the truck after it came to rest, but employees of the dealership were able to use fire extinguishers to put them out.

The driver, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.

Police said speed and a rain-slicked roadway were evidently factors in the accident.

Greg May, the owner of the dealership, estimated damage at more than $250,000.

He said that the debris from the crash should be cleaned up Friday.
