GARDEN RIDGE (February 15, 2014) Preliminary autopsy results show that Leanne Bearden, 33, a Colorado woman who disappeared nearly a month ago after going for a walk in a San Antonio suburb, hanged herself, authorities say.
Bearden disappeared Jan. 17 after leaving the home of her husband's parents in Garden Ridge, located just outside of San Antonio.
Her body was found Thursday in a thickly wooded area about a half mile from the house.
The preliminary autopsy results indicate her death was caused by asphyxiation, police said.
Police said their investigation is closed, with the final ruling on the death pending toxicology results.
The couple had been traveling the world for the past two years.
