WACO (July 15, 2013)—Police Monday identified the man whose body was found in the water in the area of the Lake Waco Marina in Speegleville Park as Jackson Cole Taylor-Smith, 21.
Taylor-Smith was a soldier based at Fort Hood.
A houseboat owner found Taylor-Smith’s body at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
Taylor-Smith was spending the weekend at the park with friends, Swanton said.
He was last seen at around 3 a.m. Saturday, Swanton said.
Police are investigating the case as a questionable death.
McLennan County Justice of the Peace Pete Peterson ordered an autopsy.
Taylor-Smith was a private first class and had been assigned to Fort Hood’s Troop F, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment since February 2013.
He joined the Army in April 2011 and arrived at Fort Hood in August 2011.
