MCLENNAN COUNTY (August 2, 2012)—A body found last Friday evening in a wooded area near a reservoir was that of Kirk Kuykendall, 35, of Moody, who was last seen on July 21 at the house of a friend in Bruceville-Eddy.
Kuykendall’s daughter Kimberly said Thursday that medical examiners used DNA and dental records to confirm the identity of the remains.
She said McLennan County sheriff’s officials told her Tuesday that the body was her father’s.
She said the family plans a memorial service on Saturday.
Kuykendall was reported missing just after midnight on July 24.
McLennan County Sheriff's Capt. Kenneth Vanek said a resident discovered the body last Friday evening in a wooded area near a reservoir on Shady Shores Drive in Bruceville-Eddy near the home where Kuykendall was last seen.
Authorities said Kuykendall told his friend he was going to sleep in his truck, but when the friend later went to check, he wasn't there.
Kuykendall's cell phone was found inside the pickup, Vanek said.
Vanek said the body was too decomposed to make a positive identification.
Deputies have found no evidence of foul play, Vanek said.
