Body Recovered From Houston Ship Channel

HOUSTON (January 22, 2013)—Investigators were working Tuesday to determine how a man whose body was recovered from the Houston Ship Channel died.

Autopsy results are pending on the 54-year-old man, whose name was not immediately released.

The body was discovered Saturday morning in the ship channel outside the Valero Houston Refinery.

Police said the body had no visible signs of trauma.

A spokesman for San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corp. said no incidents were reported at the refinery.

Bill Day said Tuesday that the recovery of the body was not related to the refinery, other than proximity.

Day says Valero assisted emergency responders by providing access to the Houston Ship Channel through the company site.
