BRYAN (November 26, 2012)—Bones that were excavated from a vacant lot in Bryan turned out to be animal remains, police said Monday.

Testing started in mid-October after the area was excavated for several days in an effort to determine whether the remains were human and from the 1960s.

Police say an anthropologist who examined the bones determined the remains are from an animal and the investigation has been closed.
