Boy, 10, Told To Walk On Texas Interstate As Punishment

A woman accused of forcing her 10-year-old son to walk home along a busy Texas interstate was jailed Tuesday, charged with child abandonment.


LEAGUE CITY (October 8, 2013)—A woman accused of punishing her 10-year-old son by forcing him walk home on the shoulder of Interstate 45 in League City was jailed Tuesday.

Angela Graciela Garcia, 34, ordered the child to get out of her car Monday evening after the two argued, League City police said.

He walked along the shoulder of the interstate for about 15 minutes before officers stopped him, police said.

Garcia had another son in the car and both children later were released to the custody of their father.

Garcia was charged with abandoning and endangering a child.

She was held Tuesday at the Galveston County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bond.
