COLLEGE STATION (February 22, 2013)—About 100 people were evacuated Friday morning from the Clayton Williams Alumni Center at Texas A&M University because of a bomb threat.
Authorities were notified of the threat just before 9:30 a.m. Friday and a campus-wide “Code Maroon” alert was issued.
Students and staff were advised to avoid the area.
The building was searched and the alert was lifted just after 11 a.m. Friday.
It was the second campus bomb threat this week.
Former A&M employee Michael Francis Thomas, 43, was later arrested and charged with terroristic threat in connection with the threat, KBTX-TV in Bryan reported.
He was in the Brazos County Jail Tuesday evening.
Authorities are investigating whether the threat on Friday and the threat earlier in the week are linked.
On Wednesday in response to a bomb threat, Texas A&M officials issued a safety alert and closed Kyle Field and nearby buildings, evacuating about 700 people.
The threat was written on the wall of a nonacademic campus facility, officials said.
