EL PASO (February 22, 2012)--Authorities Wednesday identified a woman who was struck by a bullet fired in Mexico as she pushed a stroller in downtown El Paso as Mario Romero, 48.
She was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg after the shooting Tuesday and was later released.
Authorities say Romero was struck about the same time Juarez police were battling alleged carjackers a few hundred feet from the U.S. border.
Raul Betancourt said residents "live so close to bullets" that it wasn't the first time bullets have crossed the border and won't be the last.
Mayor John Cook asked residents not to panic.
