Burglars Strike A Dozen Times In One Day In Local Neighborhoods

COPPERAS COVE (April 17, 2014) Copperas Cove police were looking for leads Thursday as they investigated a string of more than a dozen home and vehicle break-ins that occurred in less than 24 hours.

Authorities got the first report of a vehicle burglary at around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Whirlaway Drive on the south side of the city.

A couple of hours later, police responded to another car burglary in the north side of the city in the 200 block of Blanket Drive.

Police continued to receive reports of vehicle and home break-ins throughout the day in those same neighborhoods.

The final call came in just after 6 p.m.

The burglars stole money, electronic items, jewelry, a knife, and other home appliances, police said.

Authorities said the vehicles were left unlocked in most of these cases.

Police have not determined whether the burglaries are related.
