Calendar Honors Texas Soldier Killed In Iraq

The calendar honors Sgt. Isela Rubalcava who was killed in a mortar attack in 2004 in Iraq.

EL PASO (December 3, 2010)--A 2011 calendar unveiled Thursday night in El Paso that features Fort Bliss personnel honors Sgt. Isela Rubalcava who was killed in a mortar attack in 2004 in Iraq.

Rubalcava, an El Paso native and 1996 graduate of Canutillo High School who attended the University of Texas El Paso before enlisting, was serving as a supply sergeant with the 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry division from Fort Lewis, Wash. when the mortar rounds were fired at her base.

A LULAC scholarship fund honoring Rubalcava will benefit from sale of the first Show of Force Calendar, which features 12 male service members

One model, Master Sgt. Kris Cook, called it "a great way to honor a fallen soldier and keep her name alive."
