Campus Officer Uses Stun Gun On Central Texas Teenager

ROUND ROCK (April 15, 2014) Police were investigating Tuesday after a resource officer who was called in to break up a fight at a high school in Round Rock used a stun gun on a student.

The 16-year-old wasn’t injured, Round Rock police Cmdr. Jim Stuart said.

The fight at Stony Point High School involved two students, but when the officer arrived there were as many as 10 other students around them, Stuart said.

One of the bystanders tried to break up the fight by grabbing one of the students involved in a bear hug.

The officer mistakenly thought those two were the ones who were fighting.

The officer told the boy who was restraining the other student to get on the ground, but instead he balled up his fists, so the officer used the stun gun, Stuart said.
