Car Smashes Into Texas Pizzeria Killing One

ANNA (October 12, 2012)—A car driven by an 80-year-old woman smashed into a pizzeria Friday afternoon in Anna north of Dallas killing one diner and injuring two others.

The accident happened about 2 p.m. Friday.

Police Chief Kenny Jenks said the woman lost control of her car, which crashed through the front windows of Mama Mia's pizza, hitting an 82-year-old woman, her daughter and her grandson.

The three were taken to Medical Center McKinney, where Jenks Kathryn Thornhill Hamlin, 82, of Anna died.

Information about the conditions of her daughter and grandson wasn’t immediately available, but their injuries weren’t thought to be life threatening.

The elderly driver also was taken to a hospital for examination.
