Car Veers Off Texas Highway, Strikes Tree, Killing Three

TURNERTOWN (February 6, 2012)--A one-vehicle accident over the weekend in East Texas left two teenagers and a 21-year-old man dead.

The Department of Public Safety says the accident happened Saturday night in Rusk County, near Turnertown.

The DPS says Blake Elliott Winfrey, 19, of Henderson and two passengers were northbound on Texas 24 when their car veered into oncoming traffic.

Winfrey over-corrected and the vehicle hit a tree.

Winfrey, Nicolas Ramon Garza, 17, and Tomas Garza, 21, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS spokesman Tom Vinger on Monday had no information on whether the Garzas were related, but said they resided at the same address in Selman City.

DPS says all three men were wearing seat belts.
