CORSICANA (March 10, 2014) A 3-year-old Navarro County boy was shot to death Monday and authorities say an 8-year-old may have fired the deadly blast from a 20-gauge shotgun.
The shooting happened just before noon Monday outside of a house in Eureka, about 12 miles southeast of Corsicana, Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner said.
The toddler, who wasn’t immediately identified, was shot at close range in the head, Tanner said.
Authorities aren’t sure who fired the shot, but say it may have been the 8-year-old child.
Deputies think the shooting was accidental, but the investigation is still open, he said.
