GEORGETOWN (October 24, 2013) Jurors Thursday will consider punishment for Fred Yazdi, 49, whom they convicted Wednesday of murder in the 2012 shooting of a man who ran to the property after a car wreck.
He could be sentenced from five to 99 years in prison.
The Williamson County jury found Yazdi guilty Wednesday night in the death of Enrique Recio, 23.
Recio, whose blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit, banged on Recio’s door before dawn on Feb. 3, 2012, as he fled after the accident to avoid being charged with DWI.
The defense says Yazdi thought he was a burglar.
Prosecutors say Recio was shot three times, once while climbing an iron fence and then twice after falling to the ground.
