WACO (February 1, 2013)—Cory Matthew Carpenter, 23, of Waco, was in the McLennan County Jail Friday, charged with injury to an elderly person and family violence in an incident in which a woman police identified as his 65-year-old common law wife and her 42-year-old daughter were assaulted.

Carpenter was ordered held on bonds totaling $8,000.

The charges stem from an incident on Jan. 25 in which a woman reported her husband grabbed her leg and pushed it over her head as she sat on a couch, causing severe pain, Waco police Officer Steve Anderson said Friday.

The woman reported the attack caused her severe pain.

When the woman’s daughter arrived at the house and tried to intervene, the man punched her in the face, causing a cut that required 14 stitches, Anderson said.

Carpenter was arrested Thursday.
