ROCKDALE (January 29, 2013)--A Rockdale man was free on bond Tuesday, a day after he was arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the death of an unborn child.

Milam County jail records indicate Mark Allen Talley, 56, posted a $30,000 bond Monday and was released after he turned himself in earlier in the day.

Rockdale police Chief Thomas Harris said Talley first was arrested on Oct. 20, 2012, at the scene of an auto-pedestrian accident on Mill Street in Rockdale.

Harris said a woman was walking along Mill Street after the Rockdale Fair with her two twin infants in a stroller when she was struck by a pickup truck.

The woman was injured, but the two twins were not.

At the time Talley was arrested for intoxication assault but when police learned the woman was pregnant and that she lost her baby as a result of the accident, the charge against Talley was upgraded to intoxication manslaughter with a motor vehicle.

Talley was indicted by a Milam County Grand Jury in December and a warrant was issued before his arrest.

Milam County Jail records indicate Talley appeared at the jail on Monday morning and turned himself in.
