Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday will be the milder of the two days. Sun and clouds will be the rule with early weekend highs in the mid 80s. Back to the low to mid 90s on Sunday!
LAGUNA PARK (March 21, 2014) A Whitney man died Thursday evening when the car he was driving veered off a rural Bosque County highway and rolled over several times.
Robert Thomas Swilling, 59, died just after 6:20 p.m. Thursday along Farm-to-Market Road 56 near the intersection of Bosque County Road 3615, about two miles south of Laguna Park and the Lake Whitney Dam, Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson said.
A DPS investigator said Swilling was alone in his 2010 Mercury Gran Marquis, driving north on FM 56, when he lost control of the car, which skidded onto the shoulder of the road and overturned several times.
Wilson said Swilling was wearing a seat belt, but the collision was extremely violent.
Bosque County Justice of the Peace James Sanders, of Clifton, pronounced Swilling dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy.
