TEMPLE (October 22, 2012)--Andy Bagrowski started decorating his walkway for Halloween when he lived in his native Maryland, but since moving to Central Texas about eight years ago, his decorations have gotten bigger and more environmentally friendly.
Bagrowski uses only trash and recycled products that Central Texans and local businesses donate for the annual display at his home at 4315 Old Waco Road in Temple, near South Pea Ridge Road.
"I tell you what, these people who give me stuff every year, God bless them," he said.
The recycled products he uses range from bottles, foaming, tablecloths, and carpet padding to anything anyone is willing to donate.
"There's many people in the Austin and Killeen area who know I do one of these every year, and they save stuff for me." Bagrowski said.
Bagrowski’s mother, Stella, said her son has always been creative.
"When he was young, he would be on the floor drawing soldiers," she said.
She said he spends months working on the decorations because of his love for the children of the neighborhood.
"Even though it's hard on him, he keeps doing it for the children," she said.
Bagrowski’s wife, Margie, says he is naturally creative.
"The whole thing is inside of him and he has to let it out," she said.
Bagrowski is already working on next year's Halloween decorations, which will include some witches at his wife’s request.
