HOUSTON (September 5, 2013)—Yolanda Nowlin of Bryan, a medical supply operator, is facing more than 60 years in prison in a nearly $3.4 million health care fraud scheme.
A federal court jury in Houston convicted Nowlin of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and four counts of health care fraud, conspiracy to commit kickback fraud and aiding and abetting Social Security fraud.
Nowlin operated two durable medical equipment companies and Carla Parnell of Bryan was an office manager.
The scam involved operations from 2003 through 2009 and fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid, prosecutors said.
Parnell earlier pleaded guilty to Social Security fraud and testified against Nowlin, who faces as much as 10 years in prison on most of the counts.
Both women remain free on bond pending sentencing in December.
