Elsenburg was driving north on the highway at around 9:45 a.m. Sunday when she lost control of her Kia Sedonia minivan while trying to avoid an SUV, Department of Public Safety Trooper D. L. Wilson said Monday.

The Kia hit a guardrail and overturned, Wilson said.

Elsenburg, who was wearing a seat belt, was seriously injured and was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where she died at around noon Sunday, Wilson said.

Her husband Johnie was injured in the accident, Wilson said.
