LEANDER (April 4, 2011)--A student at Leander High School brought a gun to school and used it to shoot herself to death in a restroom during school hours Monday.
Authorities did not release the girl’s name.
The Leander ISD described the suicide as an isolated incident and said additional counselors will be available Tuesday at the school.
School officials received a bomb threat after the shooting and the school was evacuated as a precaution.
A posting on the Leander ISD’s website Monday, however, said the bomb threat was not related to the suicide.
After police search the building, students were allowed to return to class, the posting said.
