KILLEEN (November 2, 2012)—A woman arrested after a purse snatching Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of Gold’s Gym at 902 West Central Texas Expressway in Killeen that led to a chase, a crash and a manhunt was jailed Friday evening in lieu of $74,000 bond.
Angela Jeanine White, 31, is charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle in connection with the incident in Killeen and was also named in outstanding Copperas Cove warrants charging evading arrest in a motor vehicle, criminal trespass and then over $500, but under $1,500.
She was arrested following a chase that started after a witness to the purse snatching who followed the black Dodge Charger in which the man who took the purse escaped, caught up with the vehicle at FM 2410 and East Stan Schlueter Loop and called police.
An officer who was in the area tried to pull the car over, but the driver sped off.
The Charger struck one car in the area of W S Young Drive and Central Texas Expressway, and then two others as the driver pulled onto Grandon Drive.
The chase ended abruptly after the car struck a light pole and rolled through some shrubbery at the intersection of Grandon and Estelle Circle.
Police arrested the woman who was driving, but a man jumped from the car and ran through the neighborhood where several residents reported seeing him.
He remains at large.
The purse taken from the woman in the gym parking lot was recovered, police said.
