Charges Filed In Death Of Texas Girl, 14, Who Witnessed Slaying

DALLAS (May 1, 2014) Victor Vicente, Jr., 18, of Garland, was in the Dallas County Jail Thursday charged with murder in the shooting death of a 14-year-old girl who was killed days after authorities say she witnessed a slaying.

Vivian Saldana was shot repeatedly and her body was dumped in a field, authorities said.

Garland, who was already jailed on a weapons complaint, was charged Wednesday.

His bond was set at $1 million.

Investigators believe the girl was slain March 25 while in a vehicle with Vicente and another man, Jonathan Umana-Amaya.

Her body was discovered April 4.

Detectives say Saldana witnessed a slaying on March 22 and planned to report it.

Umana-Amaya was arrested on April 24 on a capital murder charge in that case and was held Thursday in lieu of $1 million bond.
