KILLEEN (July 20, 2012)—A 3-year-old girl who nearly drowned Friday afternoon in a pool at Lions Club Park in Killeen was rescued, revived and flown to a local hospital.

The near drowning was reported at around 3:20 p.m. at the Aquatics Center at Lions Club Park at 1700 East Stan Schlueter Loop.

A lifeguard spotted the girl floating face-down in the water, blew her whistle three times to summon other pool personnel, and then jumped in and pulled the child out of the water.

The lifeguard, whose name wasn't immediately available, performed CPR.

When paramedics arrived, the girl was breathing on her own.

The girl was flown to Scott & White Children's Hospital in Temple as a precaution.
