Killeen (January 12, 2012)--A family of four left homeless three days before Christmas when a fire destroyed their home has been overwhelmed by the community's help.

Although the fire, which is still under investigation, destroyed their home and even caught their truck on fire, it could not ruin their Christmas and the start of their new year.

Roland Wornham said his neighbors, former co-workers, local charities and many others in the community all pitched in to remind him and his family of four they're not alone.

"They came out here, and they delivered presents to make sure the kids had stuff and clothes," Roland said.

"There's been contributions of money to help get some of our essentials and even food baskets."

They've made it work the past few weeks, but they now are working toward living together again.

Roland and his son Christopher are staying with Roland's other son, daughter-in-law and their new baby.

Roland's daughter Theresa and her 7-year-old son Capone are staying with Roland's sister.

"We're kind of split across town," Roland said.

The Wornham family is now trying to figure out if their home, the place where they've celebrated Christmas together every year, will be theirs again.

"My grandson told me last night, 'I don't want to move,'" Roland said.

Roland said they'll have to evaluate the cost of the damage and whether it's repairable.

"If we have to be somewhere else, then that's what God decided."

The family said regardless of their situation, they're thankful they have each other and the opportunity to start over again.

"Usually if something bad happens, something good will happen," Theresa said.

"My dad's always been a go-getter, and he's never let things bother him too bad," Christopher said.
