COPPERAS COVE (January 24, 2013)--A mobile home was destroyed and nearby homes were threatened Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out near U.S. Highway 190 in Copperas Cove.
Just after noon the Copperas Cove Fire Department received a call that a mobile home in the 2900 block of Sleepy Hollow was burning.
Three fire trucks and an ambulance responded and fire crews were still battling the blaze at around 1:30 p.m.
Firefighters say at least one nearby home was evacuated and officials had to block off a section of the road.
The fire department says no one was home when the fire broke out and they believe the home was vacant.
According to fire officials, the fire was put out around 1:45 p.m. but "stuff around the home made it difficult to fight."
Copperas Cove Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
