LUMBERTON (July 18, 2012)--Country singer Tracy Byrd and his wife were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 69 near Lumberton, about 85 miles northeast of Houston, the Department of Public Safety said.
The DPS said a car turned in front of the SUV that Byrd, who’s from the area, was driving and the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the car, Jolliette Capo of Silsbee, was ticketed for failure to yield, the DPS said.
Byrd, his wife Michelle and Capo were taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with injuries authorities said were not life threatening.
The hospital said Wednesday that the Byrds and Capo were not listed as patients.
Byrd's hits include "The Keeper of the Stars," ''Holdin' Heaven" and "Watermelon Crawl."
