Crash Between SUV, Ambulance Leaves One Dead, 6 Injured

HOUSTON (November 26, 2012)--An SUV driver died early Monday after his vehicle hit a parked ambulance in an accident that left five emergency responders and a patient's relative injured, Houston police said.

Police said the ambulance’s emergency lights were flashing when the SUV struck the emergency vehicle early Monday outside of a home.

Four firefighters were in the back of the ambulance treating a man for a possible heart attack.

The patient's daughter and another fire department employee were seated in the front of the ambulance.

Police say the patient wasn't hurt in the crash.

Investigators say the emergency responders and the patient's daughter suffered injuries that didn’t appear to be life threatening.

The heart patient was hospitalized in stable condition.

The name of the driver who died wasn't immediately released
