NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 10, 2014) Ronnie Smith, 53, of Dallas, died when his car was crushed between two tractor-trailers in a multivehicle wreck on Interstate 40 in North Little Rock, Ark., Arkansas State Police said.
State police say the accident happened Wednesday afternoon during rush hour.
According to a preliminary report, a tractor-trailer driver failed to slow for traffic and the rig crashed into Smith’s car.
The impact forced Smith's car into a tractor-trailer in front of him, and Smith's vehicle was crushed in between the two large trucks.
State police say Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of both tractor-trailers were injured and taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock.
Traffic was backed up for several hours as crews removed the wreckage.
