DNA Evidence Leads To Arrest In Texas Nursing Home Sexual Assault

BROWNWOOD (March 20, 2013)--An aide at a West Texas nursing home has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a resident who secretly saved DNA evidence on a napkin, which led to the arrest.

A Brownwood police report says the 68-year-old woman has mobility issues, uses a wheelchair, and needs help bathing.

Christopher Lynn Cantrell, 45, was held Wednesday on $50,000 bond, Brown County Jail records showed.

He was arrested on Friday.

Investigators say the woman told police in July 2012 that Cantrell had attacked her several times and gave officers the DNA evidence she saved.

Cantrell denied the allegations and provided a DNA sample, but was informed last week that the results matched, an arrest warrant affidavit said.

He said the woman instigated the sexual contact, the affidavit said.

Cantrell has been suspended from the nursing home.
