DPS Reports Relatively Quiet New Year's Eve

WACO (January 1, 2013)--New Year's Eve was relatively quiet on highways in Central Texas according to reports from the Department of Public Safety.

A communications officer at Waco's DPS office reported only 10 arrests over the 24-hour period and 21 traffic accidents, which he said is "very routine."

In comparison, the day before showed seven arrests.

Reports did not indicate what the arrests were made for, he said.

Of the 21 accidents only a few resulted in injuries serious enough to require trips to hospitals and none were fatalities, he said.

Given the weather Monday only 21 accidents in the area seemed slight, the dispatcher said.
