LUBBOCK (April 20, 2014) An investigation is underway after a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper shot and killed a driver early Sunday after a struggle following a routine traffic stop south of Lubbock.
The driver refused to identify himself after the female trooper stopped his Cadillac early Sunday, DPS spokesman Bryan Witt said.
Witt said the man struggled with the trooper near her driver's side door before she shot him.
The man, whose name and age Witt said had not been determined, died a short time later at a Lubbock hospital.
Two other people who were riding with the man at the time of the traffic stop were released after giving statements.
