Deployed Soldier’s Canine Companion Seeks Temporary Home
Soldier's Dog Gets Temporary Home
WACO (February 12, 2012)-A deployed soldier’s dog is in need of a home temporarily as it awaits its master’s return.
Currently in his third deployment, Army Chief Warrant Officer Anthony Bailey adopted Chief, a pure-bred German Shepherd puppy, in December while on furlough from Afghanistan. Since Army regulations prohibit soldiers from having pets in war zones, Bailey opted to leave Chief in the care of the family from whom he acquired the two-month-old puppy until he returned in May.
An unfortunate series of events however now prevent that family from honoring that commitment so Bailey’s father, Travis Bailey, stepped in to assist.
“[Anthony] has got a lot on his mind,” says the elder Bailey. “I just don’t want him to worry about his dog.”
But Bailey already has three older dogs of his own and not enough room take on and train a fourth. Bailey says he needs to find a good, temporary home for the young, energetic pup.
“I’ll take care of any of his medical [expenses], his food and whatever he needs,” reassured Bailey. “It wouldn’t cost anybody anything but some love.”
The dog’s vaccination shots are current as of the beginning of the year. If you would like to foster Chief, you can contact Travis Bailey at
