CLEVELAND (May 21, 2014) Several Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies who shot and killed a woman they say pointed a rifle at them during a domestic dispute were on paid administrative leave Wednesday.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office did not immediately release the name of the woman who died in the confrontation Tuesday night at a home in Cleveland.
The deputies responded Tuesday night to a report of a family violence situation and arrived to find the house on fire, sheriff’s Lt. Brady Fitzgerald said.
Then an armed woman emerged from the burning home and pointed a rifle at deputies, he said.
The woman threatened the deputies before the officers fired, authorities said.
She died at the scene.
Further details were not immediately released Wednesday.
