KATY (August 14, 2014) Teachers preparing for the first day of classes at a school in Katy got an early morning surprise in the form of an alligator at the back door.
An employee at Beck Junior High School called to report the alligator and Fort Bend County deputies were sent to capture it.
Authorities found the reptile across campus near some air conditioning units.
They lassoed it and removed it after a brief struggle.
No injuries were reported.
It's unclear how big the animal is.
The school district says classes are scheduled to begin on Aug. 25.
