BELL COUNTY (November 27, 2012)--Bell County sheriff's deputies were investigating Tuesday morning after an elderly man was found dead in a swimming pool.

Deputies and rescue units were sent at around 8:45 a.m. to home in the 4500 block of East State Highway 53 just outside of Temple after a caller reported a possible drowning.

A sheriff's office spokesman said when officers arrived they found the man face down and unconscious in the pool.

A woman at the scene told deputies she and her husband were cleaning the pool when he fell in.

Bell County Justice of the Peace G.W. Ivey said he pronounced the man dead at the scene, but he said he did not believe the man drowned.

Ivey said he ruled the death accidental and believes the man died as a result of a heart attack and simply fell into the pool.

The man's identity had not been released pending notification of his family.
