Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Bright, blue skies and breezy winds out of the south will keep Saturday and Sunday pleasantly warm in the 70s!
WACO (April 16, 2014) McLennan County sheriff’s deputies closed off streets Wednesday night in a housing area on the edge of the Texas State Technical College campus after a report of a shooting and a barricaded subject, but authorities later said the call evidently was a hoax.
Initially officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Webster Avenue in Waco in response to a 911 call that was cut off after the caller said there was blood on the floor.
But after dispatchers reviewed tapes of the call, officers were sent to 309 Webb Dr. on the edge of the Texas State Technical College campus.
Deputies and officers flooded the neighborhood and closed down some streets as they went door-to-door in the housing area, but they found nothing.
The Waco Police Department’s SWAT Team was en route, but was cancelled.
There’s also a Webb Street in Bellmead, but nothing was found there either.
According to radio traffic, the emergency call was placed through an Internet site and could not be traced.
